Akshardham Temple - A Cultural Showcase of India

Akshardham Temple is a Hindu temple situated on the bank of Yamuna River in East Delhi district. The temple is also known as Swaminarayan Akshardham Temple. 

It is not only a temple but a centre which showcase 10000 years old rich culture of India through its architecture and exhibitions. It took 5 years and 11,000 artisans. The temple complex was inaugurated on 6th of November 2005 by then the President of India, A. P. J. Abdul Kalam.

What to Experience -
  1. Akshardham Temple – The main temple which is dedicated to Bhagwan Swaminarayan. The architecture of the temple will blow your mind.
  2. Life and Time of Swaminarayan –  In the temple complex there is exhibition which shows the life and time of Swaminarayana through robotic shows, movie and boat ride.  One have to buy ticket to experience this.
  3. Water Show – At the end of evening when the Sun sets, there is a show of water, light and sound. To watch this show one need to buy tickets. 
  4. Garden of India – Just in front of main temple there is a huge park and statues of great children, women, freedom fighters and leaders.
  5. Resturant – People are not allowed to carry any eatables from outside. You can enjoy yummy food inside the temple complex. There is a restaurant which serves many Indian foods and beverages.
  • You cannot carry your mobile, camera, usb or any electrical item inside the complex. There is a cloak room available at the entrance.
  • Purse or bag larger than 6 inch is not allowed inside the premises. You can carry moneybag inside the complex only. 
  • The temple complex remained closed every Monday.
  • Visitor Time  from 9:30 AM to 6:30 PM
